WHAT DO YOU THINK

WHAT'S KEEPING FORT ERIE FROM DOING
THE SAME THING IN CRYSTAL BEACH?
RINO MOSTACCI NOW CLAIMS
THAT TOWN APPLIED FOR
GRANTS FOR BAY BEACH
Friday,  June 26, 2009 in an article in the Fort Erie Post, town planner, Rino Mostacci claimed that the town had
applied for government grants to improve the Bay Beach Properties.  This, we believe, is in answer to those who
oppose the Molinaro Plan for the Bay Beach Properties. Various groups have pointed out examples of other lake
side towns' publicly funded initiatives to refurbish and improve their public beach front properties, like the one above
in Grand Bend, Ontario.
"Mostacci said that the cost of revitalizing and
developing publc amenities at the beach would be
in the range of $3 million, something that the town
can’t afford. He noted that
they had applied for
some grants to help with the funding but were
not successful."
The Strand issues the following challenge to Rino Mostacci:  produce proof that grants were applied for and the
outcome of those requests.
The Strand will be following this up to obtain proof - or not - that these grants have been applied
for.
The Strand believes that this may be a fabrication on the part of the Grimsby-based town planner who is rapidly losing
credibility on the issue because he can no longer justify the staff-driven idea to give away/sell the public Bay Beach lands.
Even the Molinaros are surprised at the level of opposition to their plan to build two twelve story condo towers and a strip mall
on public beach lands. We're just getting started.  We must stop the town council - as directed by town staff - from making a
tragic mistake - a mistake that can never be corrected.
